Intro To Self-Love

Updated: Jul 24

I don't know how you found this blog post but what I do know is that everything is always happening for your highest good and if you are reading this, you attracted this vibration. This means that your desire to learn more about self-love is powerful and there is something you will take from this post and expand in your journey to becoming more love-fluent.

Our Intro To Self-Love curriculum at SenterME focuses on the three pillars of self-love:

  • Environment

  • Language

  • Vision

Let's explore the fundamentals of each pillar and action steps to implement this self-love behavior in your life to experience greater daily fulfillment!

Your self-love environment has two components, internal and external. Your internal environment consists of a regular free flow of energy, emotional wellness, self-awareness, and most importantly, peace. Cultivating an internal experience as such takes time, patience, and a whole lot of grace. Keeping it R.E.A.L. is a sure way to get there. We developed this free guide to help you process your emotions. It consists of reflecting, expressing, accepting, and letting go. Keep in mind as it relates to your internal environment that it is directly reflected in your external environment.

In short, a free-flowing, secure, and balanced internal environment fosters a free-flowing, secure, and balanced external environment.

Your external environment is made up of 5 components and we like to call it the D.R.E.A.M. Life, the Dare to Rule Everything Around Me. These 5 components are:

-Relationships

-Career

-Routine

-Hobbies

-Living Space

We have an entire curriculum dedicated to the external self-love environment and a blog post you can find here to explore in more depth. When we are struggling with our emotional wellness all 5 of these components of our external environment suffer. The biggest indicator of a healthy external environment is balance and balance is achieved when our internal environment is being regulated with balance in mind.

Actionable Step:

Prioritize inner clarity. Spend time with yourself throughout the day to check in with yourself and identify your needs. Sometimes we can feel confused or unable to think straight because we haven't gotten enough rest, haven't stepped away from work to tend to other needs like eating (lol) or our living space is disorganized and cluttered as well. So try checking in with yourself 1-3 times per day to assess your needs and prioritize meeting them. This will encourage clarity because you are spending more time reflecting and when you have clarity you are empowered to regulate your internal space and external environment with balance.

Speaking a self-love language requires love fluency. In our society today we tend to be more fluent in fear than love and it shows in the way we speak to ourselves and each other. How we think, the way we trust, whether or not our beliefs are limiting or promoting expansion, our behaviors, and the very reality we exist in all depends on the language we use. Our ability to articulate with love and knowing is essential in cultivating that life we truly desire by boosting confidence, setting and enforcing boundaries, and feeling free to express ourselves in self-advocacy and preservation. We call this Talking That T.A.L.K. at SenterME. It is another curriculum we designed to build love fluency through our language.

Actionable Step:

Daily affirmations are highly underrated. In our blog post that outlines a transformative self-love routine, I share insights into my personal journey using affirmations. To strengthen your ability to articulate with love and knowing draft a set of affirmations that speak to acceptance, growth, security, your gifts, gratitude, and empowerment. Every day when you step out of the shower or as you get dressed recite them aloud and in a way that comes from the most joyful part of you. Imagine you are the choir director and every cell in your body is a part of your choir and you are speaking to them with passion and enthusiasm to motivate and excite them to use that energy to fuel every verse (affirmations).

Sometimes I tickle my daughter to get more joy in your voice as she recites her affirmations before school. My son raps his affirmations. This not only promotes an inner-standing but rewires your brain (neuroplasticity) for love fluency.

Last but most certainly not least is your self-love vision. Of the three pillars, having a vision grounds your environment and unleashes the power of your language. Needlessly to say it is essential. Cultivating a vision for yourself is no easy task as the requirement here is self-awareness and knowing where, when, and why you are in the present moment, accepting the present for what, when, and how it is. This is the only way to see your vision come to life. We must be aware and grateful for who we are to get to who we want to be. There is an art to building the vision we have for ourselves. Your vision must be vast giving yourself the space that is required to feel what you feel, navigate life's ups and downs, explore yourself, challenge yourself, give yourself grace, appreciate pain and pleasure the same, release constantly, and replenish even more.

Actionable Step:

Write it down, make it plain. Journal regularly to improve your self-awareness, include goals that reveal your limitless potential, practice talking that T.A.L.K., and assess lessons learned.

Use your imagination often and remember that life is play. Journaling is a powerful and healthy form of expression that can help us extract the abundance of life, improve our response to ourselves and the world around us, and cultivate the vision for ourselves that takes up more and more space with every step positioning us exactly where and when we need to be.
